Last week, it was revealed that President Donald Trump refered to Haiti, El Salvador and African nations as "shithole countries" during an Oval Office meeting about immigration reform. He also said that he was not interested in the thoughts of the Congressional Black Caucus (CBC) on immigration.
Today (January 18), the CBC joined with Democrats from the House Committee on the Judiciary to introduce a resolution to censure—or officially reprimand—the president for his comments. In a statement issued last week, CBC chair Cedric L. Richmond (D-La.) called the comments "yet another confirmation of his racially insensitive and ignorant views."
