On Wednesday, Oprah will take discuss the rights for gays and lesbians around the world. Talking to a few people of color, Oprah will interview the UK’s
John Amaechi, a former NBA basketball player who made headlines after coming out last year; an Indian prince,
Manvendra Singh Gohil, who also came out last year despite the disdain of the royal family; and Jamaican poet,
Staceyann Chin, who left her home for New York City because of the deadly homophobia. While the panel is packed with people of color, I hope that Oprah’s interviews are not reduced to the persistent misconception that communities of color are the most homophobic. Here's a
