Broadway lovers and Taye Diggs lovers can now rejoice! A first-look photo of the performer as the titular star of the "Hedwig and the Angry Inch" revival, initially a People exclusive accompanying their profile of the actor in the new issue, was released yesterday and has since appeared thoughout the media on the production's official Instagram:

Diggs is the first major performer of color to portray Hedwig, a genderqueer East German rock-band singer who deals with the fallout of a botched reassignment surgery and the Cold War-era political climate. He is the sixth actor to play the role in this revival. He succeeds Andrew Rannells, Michael C. Hall, John Cameron Mitchell (who co-wrote the musical), Darren Criss and Neil Patrick Harris.

Diggs will begin his 12-week run as Hedwig, his first Broadway appearance since 2004's "Wicked," on July 22nd. Click here to read the original profile in People.
