Designers, curators, models, celebrities and fashion lovers descended on New York City between September 5 and 12 for the latest iteration of New York Fashion Week (NYFW). As the industry takes steps toward more equitable representation, this year's shows featured several established and emerging designers of color and several high-profile showcases featuring diverse models. Channel that energy into your wardrobe via inspiration from these showcases, which highlighted designers and models of color:
I wanted my debut at #NYFW to be an experience.I hired all black models with natural hair& dark skin because that's what the fashion industry is most afraid of. You cant erase us if we control the narrative. I did this for the little black girls watching at home.Because I love us pic.twitter.com/tpkZ728Mh5

Prabal Gurung introduced diversity to fashion when he took his guests on journey inspired by his recent travels from Nepal to cities across the globe for his SS’19 show at #NYFW. Love the use of colour in his collection. #ThrowbackThursday pic.twitter.com/23dYaEOQHU
