Today’s Love Goes to Maria Aragon’s Youthful ‘Born This Way’

The 10-year-old has become a YouTube sensation and is set to perform a duet with Lady Gaga next month.

If you haven’t noticed, we do love musically-talented youth. So we couldn’t let 10-year-old Maria Aragon, from Winnipeg, Canada, pass by without giving her some Colorlines love. Maria’s become a YouTube sensation by doing a cover of Lady Gaga’s "Born This Way." Her version of the song went from 3,100 to more than two million views in less than 24 hours. Even Lady Gaga herself is in love with this talented young girl, and the two are set to sing a duet in Toronto in March.

These particular lyrics are inspirational:

There’s nothing wrong with loving who you are.

She said, ’cause He made you perfect babe.

So hold your head up and you’ll go far.

Listen to me when I say

I’m beautiful in my way, ’cause God makes no mistakes

I’m on the right track, baby, I was born this way.

Don’t hide yourself in regret,

Just love yourself and you’re set

I’m on the right track, baby, I was born this way

But this song is far from perfect. Take a look at these problematic lines:

You’re black, white, beige, Chola descent

You’re Lebanese, you’re Orient

We’re not entirely sure what inspired Lady Gaga to write these lines. But nevertheless, we still give props to Maria Aragon–she is one talented and confident young girl, and adorable too!

Today our love goes out to all the youth out there who aren’t afraid to be who they are and are proud to share it with the world. We’re ending the day as often as possible by celebrating love.
