Massachusetts Ends Health Care for Immigrants In a step backward from pushing universal health care, the new Massachusetts budget eliminates health care coverage for about 30,000 legal immigrants. Indian Congress Seeks Cigarette Act Amendment The National Congress of American Indians asked the Senate to amend the proposed Prevent All Cigarette Trafficking Act, in order to protect the legal tobacco industry in Indian country. Disparity in Education Remains The Education Department released a report that shows a continuing wide achievement gap between Black and white students. Retirees of Color Often Lack 401(k) Plans The recession and retirement crisis will hit Black and Latino retirees the hardest. The two groups are less likely than whites or Asians to participate in company 401 (k) plans.
