Meek Mill will star in his own six-part docuseries for Amazon, exploring racial inequities inherent in the United States’ criminal justice system, according to a March 16 story from Rolling Stone.

“#FreeMeek,” co-produced by Jay Z, will debut this summer on Amazon Prime. Meek revealed a clip from the film during a sold out concert in Philly on March 15, during the city’s Meek Mill Weekend, which lifts up the rapper’s criminal justice reform work.

Born Robert Rihmeek Williams, Mill was imprisoned for violating parole in November 2017. He was released following a massive advocacy effort, and his sentence sparked a national debate. In a teaser trailer for the series, posted March 16, Meek says, “I never really looked at it as a nightmare, I looked at it as real life for a Black kid in America. This is real life.”

In a statement, Amazon said, “The series will give viewers unprecedented access to the star’s life, career, and criminal justice odyssey, while demonstrating the negative effects long tail probation is having on urban communities of color.”
