CBS Launches Diversity Casting Initiative

By Sameer Rao Oct 14, 2016

CBS announced a new initiative for dramatic actors from marginalized groups.

The CBS Drama Diversity Casting Initiative is part of the network’s larger Diversity Institute, which features several programs and fellowships aimed at opening the doors to rising creators and performers from groups traditionally underrepresented in Hollywood.

For this particular program, interested performers must submit a taped monologue. Selected actors will meet with CBS executives for callbacks in Atlanta, San Francisco, Austin, Chicago and Miami. From that group, 14 to 16 people will go to Los Angeles in December to screen test in a CBS series. Those tests will then be available for creative teams and execs during the network’s pilot season.

Monologues must be submitted by October 28. Click here for more information.
