As promised, Marvel offered audiences a first look at Ryan Coogler‘s "Black Panther" during Friday’s (June 9) fourth game of the NBA Finals.
The two-minute trailer shows Chadwick Boseman ("Get On Up") as T’Challa/Black Panther, returning to his native Wakanda for the first time since the events of "Captain America: Civil War" to take his place as king. Scenes of him ruthlessly dispatching an armed mercenary squad, partaking in traditional Wakandan ceremonies and flipping over a rolling carwreck play over Run the Jewels‘ "Legend Has It."
The trailer also introduces most of the film’s central characters, portrayed by the first all-Black leading Marvel movie cast: Danai Gurira ("The Walking Dead") as Okoye, head of Wakanda’s all-women Dora Milaje special forces squad; Lupita Nyong’o ("Queen of Katwe") as Dora Milaje member and love interest Nakia; Michael B. Jordan ("Creed") as adversary Erik Killmonger; Daniel Kaluuya ("Get Out") as confidant W’Kabi; Angela Bassett ("Close to the Enemy") as mother Ramonda; and Forest Whitaker ("Rogue One: A Star Wars Story") as Wakandan elder statesman Zuri.
Watch the trailer above, and check out "Black Panther" in theaters next February.
