WATCH: ‘Horror Noire’ Trailer Explores Portrayals of Blackness in Horror Cinema

Horror films like Jordan Peele‘s "Get Out," whose frights come from the threat of anti-Blackness and violence, challenge genre conventions that often render Black characters as disposable or antagonists—if they’re featured at all. Peele and other screen artists revisit this history in the trailer for "Horror Noire: A History of Black Horror," which premiered via Entertainment Weekly yesterday (January 7). Executive produced by Dr. Robin R. Means Coleman and writer Tananarive Due, the film—which takes its name from Coleman’s 2011 book—debuts on horror streaming service Shudder on February 7.
