"I’m not out to steal your money, I don’t want to take your time/I do deserve a little respect so, I’m gon’ get what is mine," sings Texas singer-guitarist Gary Clark Jr. on the uplifiting "Hold On." The blues-influenced musician’s stirring new video affirms the song’s message of perseverance amid chaos.

"Hold On" is the latest single from Clark’s 2015 album "The Story of Sonny Boy Slim." In the video, Clark sings and shreds while immersed in the backdrop of footage showing Black oppression and resistance through the ages. Black-and-white clips of Martin Luther King Jr. speaking and crowds being sprayed with fire hoses mix with color footage of protesters in Ferguson defiantly holding up their hands in front of police lines.
