By Sameer Rao Jun 15, 2018

As a street basketball player, DJ and self-confessed "sneaker addict," Bobbito Garcia inked his own blueprint to success in hip hop. He celebrates his nearly four decades in the culture in his new retrospective documentary, "Rock Rubber 45s." The official trailer was released yesterday (June 14).

The Puerto Rican storyteller’s film chronicles his unique path through the growing artistic movement. Celebrity friends and contemporaries like Rosie Pérez, Questlove and Chuck D appear to reflect on their relationships with Garcia and his boundary-breaking work.

"You take the best of everything and you just remix it until you are who you are," Lin-Manuel Miranda reflects in the trailer for "Rock Rubber 45s," which Garcia also directed and produced.

Learn more about Garcia’s stamp on the culture when "Rock Rubber 45s" comes to a theater near you this month, and hits Video on Demand on July 24.
