Watch Bill Clinton Reveal How He Really Feels About the Black Lives Matter Movement

Things got heated at a campaign event for Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton yesterday (April 7). Former President Bill Clinton clashed with protesters while speaking to a crowd in Philadelphia. Holding signs and chanting, the activists drew attention to Clinton’s welform reform initiatives and his crime bill that lead to the mass incarceration of people of color. They also called out his wife for calling Black kids “super-predators.”

In the video above, Clinton responds, saying, “See these other signs? This is what’s the matter. I don’t know how you would characterize the gang leaders who got 13-year-old kids hopped up on crack and sent ’em out onto the street to murder other African-American children. Maybe you thought they were good citizens. She didn’t.”

He went on to tell the predominantly Black group of protestors: “You are defending the people who killed the lives you say matter. Tell the truth.” Clinton also said that they wouldn’t “hush” because they were “afraid of the truth,” and told supporters that they “need a president who will tell you the truth, answer the questions and not be intimidated by people on the far right or the far left screaming things that are not true.”

Watch the full video above. His response to the protestors begins at about 4:25.
