VIDEO: Tuba Player Gives KKK Rally Earache, Hilarity Ensues

As Confederate flag supporters gathered to march alongside the Ku Klux Klan in Columbia, South Carolina, this weekend (in protest of the flag’s removal from State House grounds), one person fought back the only way he knew how: with music.

And it was funny as hell.

Matt Buck, a Columbia resident who studied tuba performance at the University of South Carolina, happened upon the unidentified flag-wavers after attending a counterprotest earlier in the day. Holding his sousaphone (a version of the tuba used in marching bands), he instinctively began following the protesters and playing a lumbering theme alongside them. As you can see in the video above, Buck switched to playing Wagner’s "Ride of the Valkyries," which he told Charleston City Paper was used in an infamous "Blues Brothers" movie scene where Nazis chase the brothers.

"A few people had a few things to say, but nobody really confronted me or anything," said Buck in his comments to the paper. "My goal was to embarrass them, and I think I did a little bit."
