Ryan Coogler Will Co-Write ‘Black Panther’ Movie

A Marvel official confirmed yesterday (April 11) that "Creed" and "Fruitvale Station" director Ryan Coogler is already co-writing the script for the upcoming "Black Panther" film. 

When Collider asked if the "Black Panther" creators had finalized a script, Marvel Comics Universe (MCU) head Kevin Feige said the following: 

Very soon. We have a number of writers on it including Ryan Coogler, who is also directing, he’s working on the draft right now. Between now and the end of the summer there will be more casting announcements. We start filming at the very beginning of next year.

Marvel confirmed Coogler as director in January. He previously wrote the screenplay for "Fruitvale Station" and co-wrote "Creed."

Black Panther will be portrayed by "42" and "Get On Up" star Chadwick Boseman. His version of the character will makes its theatrical debut in next month’s "Captain America: Civil War."

The character also recently got a comic reboot. Bestselling author and journalist Ta-Nehisi Coates debuted his new comic last Wednesday (April 6).
