Those who want to own a physical copy of The History Channel’s "Roots" reboot will have the chance when it comes out on DVD and Blu-ray on August 23.

Shadow and Act reported yesterday (June 13) that the remake of Alex Haley’s epic slavery drama is now available for preorder. Both the DVD and Blu-ray versions include "Roots: A History Revealed," a behind-the-scenes documentary. The reboot premiered in four parts over four nights, starting on Memorial Day. It features British actor Malachi Kirby as the iconic "Kunta Kinte" alongside performances from Forest Whitaker, Anika Noni Rose and Anna Paquin.

According to Deadline, the new "Roots" premiere logged 5.3 million viewers, while the finale logged 4.2 million.
