Today (February 26), on the sixth anniversary of his death, the world remembers Trayvon Benjamin Martin.
The 17-year-old’s death at the hands of vigilante George Zimmerman was the launchpad for Black Lives Matter, which aims to “build local power and to intervene in violence inflicted on Black communities by the state and vigilantes.”
