Singer R. Kelly faced a federal judge in Chicago on Tuesday (July 16), following his arrest on Monday (July 15) night. In that hearing, he was denied bond on the two new indictments brought by Illinois and New York for his alleged decades of abuse of young girls, the Chicago Tribune reports today (July 17).

“We’re talking seventh and eighth grade girls,” assistant U.S. attorney Angel Krull said in the courtroom, according to the Tribune. “And it didn’t happen once or twice. He sexually abused them hundreds of times before they turned 18.”

Prosecutors also reportedly argued that the 52-year-old was a flight risk, considering his mounting criminal woes and United States district judge Harry Leinenweber apparently agreed. This is the first time Kelly has been denied bond following arrest.

Prosecutors believe there are many more girls out there who have been abused by Kelly. “The investigation is far from over,” Krull told the Tribune.
