Princeton Students Petition Against a Campus Concert by ‘Misogynistic, Homophobic’ Big Sean

Two Princeton students are petitioning against an on-campus Big Sean performance scheduled to happen next week. The online petition, created by students Rebecca Basaldua and Duncan Hosie to convince their student government not to allow the rapper to take part in the university’s Lawnparties celebration, has 500 plus signatures.

Hosie told the Daily Princetonian that a Lawnparties promotional video showing Big Sean repeating the phrase "stupid a** bi**h" spurred him to take action:

After I saw that video, I started researching Big Sean’s language and I found language that was both misogynistic and homophobic. We wrote an op-ed piece that we published on Google Docs [on Sunday] and wanted to see the number of supporters.

Contracts have been signed and the event is already set into motion, but the students are hoping for a turn of events.

Lawnparties is set for April 17. Read more.
