Pittsburgh Radio Station Suspends DJ Over Controversial Freddie Gray Post

By Qimmah Saafir Apr 30, 2015

Pittsburgh FM radio station WAMO 100.1 has suspended DJ Mike Jax aka Mike Jackson after he posted something online that they deemed “too controversial and partly inaccurate.”

The disc jockey posted a list of criminal charges on Instagram that he claimed Freddie Gray, the man whose death while in police custody sparked the Baltimore uprising, recently faced. Along with the list, Jax added, “"He was pretty busy before he was unjustly killed at the hands of Baltimore PD. #prayforbaltimore."

After listeners caught wind of his post, complaints (and even threats) poured into the station. WAMO has suspended Jax for at least two weeks, and the DJ went back to Instagram to post an apology claiming he meant the opposite of how the post was taken.
