No Room for Racism in the NFL

Score one for the Black NFL players and their supporters. Their objections to Rush Limbaugh’s bid to own the St. Louis Rams were heard and felt. Reuters is reporting that Limbaugh has been dropped from a group trying to buy the football team. Yes, that’s the same Rush who makes a living making remarks such as: “Slavery built the South. I’m not saying we should bring it back. I’m saying it had its place. For one thing, the streets were safer after dark.” Looks like the NFL will be a lot safer with Rush on the sidelines. Chalk one up for NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell, who is reported to have told the NFL Fall League Meeting: "I think divisive comments are not what the NFL is all about. I would not want to see those kind of comments from people who are in a responsible position within the NFL." Also, it’s a big score for the organizers of RushisaRacist.com for their petition drive urging the NFL to reject his ownership bid. And hi-fives should also go to those who helped promote the cause, including Brave New Films, for producing a quick-strike video to get the word out to activists around the country.
