Halloween not shaping up to be scary enough for you? Hip-hop group The Black Opera has a new song that’s sure to remind you of the horrors that regularly visit the lives of Black people living in the United States.

“Black Frankenstein” was released today (October 31) via The Source. “‘Black Frankenstein’ is what Black anger sounds like,” group members Jamall Bufford and Magestik Legend told the site. “The anger of continuously seeing people that look like you get treated unjustly and murdered, solely because of how they look. Then when we react to the injustice, we get called a monster.”

“Black Frankenstein” is the second single off the collective’s upcoming November 11 album, “African America.” With lyrics like, “Black Frankenstein of horror, like Black man with all-White jurors. They tried to take my power, instead they made a monster,” the song delves into what happens when you deprive Black people of their humanity.
