According to "The Counted," The Guardian’s database of civilians killed by police, 1,068 people lost their lives to police violence in 2016. Of that total, more than 450 were people of color. The commemorative graphic below is made up of the names of civilians of color who lost their lives between January 1 to December 9, 2016.
