“Rigged: TheVoter Supression Playbook,” a documentary from the American Issues Initiative, explores how Republicans reupped their efforts to keep people of color away from the polls following the election of President Barack Obama. Narrated by Emmy and Tony Award-winning actor Jeffrey Wright, the doc takes viewers on the road to places like Cumberland County, North Carolina, where over 6,000 names were removed from voter rolls in 2016. “This is a story that needs to be told—and heard,” said Wright in an emailed statement. “I was eager to play a part in telling it and I hope ‘Rigged’ sounds an alarm that wakes America up.”
