NBA center Jason Collins spoke with Oprah recently about his decision to become the first active male professional athlete in a major American sport to come out as openly gay. With Oprah, he elaborated a bit on what it means for him to be black, openly gay, and a person of faith. "I grew up in a very religious family," Collins told Oprah. "I knew as an African-American that it adds another dimension to the discussion," he said of race impacts the discussion of his sexuality.
