Immigrants Plan for Nationwide Rallies

It’s almost May Day. Known as International Worker’s Day, May 1 is cememorated in different ways all over the world. Advocates for immigrant rights have been marching on this day for years, and this year will be no different. Rallying against the lack of basic civil rights available to members of our communities, the Associated Press reports,

Activists predict turnout for the more than 200 events planned Thursday from Seattle to Miami will be far less than in years past. But they say efforts demanding comprehensive immigration legislation — including pathways to citizenship for the estimated 12 million illegal immigrants living in the U.S. — have extended beyond the streets.
