Emayatzy Corinealdi Stars in Ava DuVernay’s Police Shooting Drama, ‘Red Line’

Actress Emayatzy Corinealdi reunites with "A Wrinkle in Time" filmmaker Ava DuVernay for "Red Line," an upcoming drama pilot for CBS that will focus on the aftermath of a White Chicago police officer killing a Black doctor. Variety reported yesterday (February 27) that Corinealdi will play Tia Young, a lead character described by the entertainment news outlet as "a formidable, well-educated woman raised on the South Side of Chicago."


CBS approved the "Red Line" pilot in early February. Deadline noted at the time that "Red Line" explores the killing and its impact on three families with connections to the case.


DuVernay will executive produce "Red Line" alongside Greg Berlanti ("The Flash") and Sarah Schechter ("Arrow"). Series screenwriters Caitlin Parrish ("Supergirl") and Erica Weiss ("The View From Tall") also co-produce. 


Corinealdi previously starred in DuVernay’s second narrative feature film, "Middle of Nowhere." She also appeared in her music video for Jay-Z ‘s "Family Feud."
