New documentary "She Did That." lifts up the stories of Black women entrepreneurs. It premiered on Netflix February 5 and was created to inspire "Black women and the magic we create," producer Renae L. Bluitt told Forbes in an interview published February 4.

The film, which grew out of Bluitt’s blog “In Her Shoes,” explores the lives and vision of four Black women who lead: Luvvie Ajayi (author, speaker and podcast host), Melissa Butler (The Lip Bar), Lisa Price (Carol’s Daughter) and Tonya Rapley (My Fab Finance). Through their stories and never-before-seen footage, Bluitt tries to explain how the “1.9 million Black women-owned firms," which “generate $51.4 billion in total revenues,” find success.

But "She Did That." didn’t just document these women’s journeys, but also followed in their footsteps. “Throughout the filming process, we were very intentional about hiring Black women—from the spaces we rented to film in to the makeup artists we brought on for glam—we wanted this production to be by Black women and for Black women as much as possible,” Bluitt told Forbes.
