In recognition of his immense achievements in film over the past three decades, actor Denzel Washington is being honored with the Golden Globes’ Cecil B. DeMille Award.

The Cecil B. DeMille Award, which honors ongoing achievement in cinema, has previously gone to Jody Foster, Robin Williams and George Clooney. The Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA), which runs the Golden Globes, announced Washington as the upcoming honoree on Monday.

“Washington’s long and storied career is earmarked by his countless roles in front and behind the camera. It is the HFPA’s privilege to honor his contributions to the entertainment industry with the Cecil B. DeMille Award," said Lorenzo Soria, president of the HFPA.

Washington has been nominated for Golden Globes at seven different ceremonies, and won for his roles in "Glory" and "The Hurricane." He will receive his latest award at the 73rd Golden Globe Awards ceremony on January 10, 2016.
