Last week, we wrote about a hotel worker injury study that found that Latina hotel workers had the highest injury rate at 10.6 percent a year while white hotel workers had a rate of 6.3 percent, Black workers had a rate of 5.5 and Asian workers had a rate of 7.3 percent. During a recent three-day strike outside the Grand Hyatt hotel in San Francisco, nearly half of the protesters were Chinese immigrants. Many of them work as room cleaners and food servers in local hotels. But a new contract would make them pay for their own health insurance. They say health insurance should be provided for them and their families, and cover any injuries they may suffer on the job. video via New America Media
