Fans of Chance the Rapper can look forward to a new musical film from the Chicago-bred MC, philanthropist, media publisher and actor. Chance confirmed his involvement by retweeting Deadline‘s report from yesterday (November 13):

Deadline reveals that Chance will produce "Hope" with financing from MGM. The entertainment outlet describes "Hope" as a story about "a group of Chicago teenagers that band together to turn art into action within their community."

Nico Segal, a trumpeter and composer who’s collaborated with Chance and The Social Experiment for several years, will oversee the score. Carlito Rodriguez ("Empire") is writing the script. Chance produces the project alongside Haight Brand founder and longtime personal manager Pat Corcoran, as well as with Scott Bernstein ("Straight Outta Compton").

“From day one, our mission at Haight Films has been to apply Haight Brand’s artist-first and Chicago-proud ideology to the film space. We are incredibly excited to be working alongside Chance, MGM and Scott Bernstein to bring this vision to life.”
