Celebrate Tupac’s Birthday With This ‘All Eyez on Me’ Trailer

By Kenrya Rankin Jun 16, 2016

From director drama to lawsuits, the production of the upcoming Tupac Shakur biopic has had its share of problems. But it seems that things are finally on track. The latest proof is today’s (June 16) release of a teaser trailer for “All Eyez on Me.”

Just in time to mark what would have been the rapper and actor’s 45th birthday, it features newcomer Demetrius Shipp Jr. on stage and off, with a powerful voiceover that appears to represent the words of his mother, activist Afeni Shakur.

OkayPlayer reports that the city of Oakland has officially declared today “Tupac Shakur Day.” He often talked about the connection he had to the city, saying in this video: “If I’mma claim somewhere, I’mma claim Oakland.” Shakur died in 1996 from injuries sustained during a drive-by shooting in Las Vegas.

The film, directed by Benny Boom (“Next Day Air,” various music videos) is slated for a November 11, 2016, release. Watch the teaser trailer below, or click here for an enlarged view.
