Breaking News: Angie Zapata’s Killer Found Guilty of a Hate Crime

By Julianne Hing Apr 22, 2009

This is justice. Allen Andrade, 32, was this afternoon found guilty of first degree, bias-motivated murder, identity theft and aggravated motor theft, for killing Angie Zapata, an 18-year-old transgender woman in Greeley, Colorado last summer. The court case went quick–it was supposed to last two weeks but opening statements and the guilty verdict came back in less than a week. The jury deliberated quickly, and Andrade likely faces life in prison without parole. Check out the Colorado Independent’s coverage, and AngieZapata.com for more updates.
