The new promo ad released by Beyoncé Knowles’ camp to promote the 2011 album "4," finds Beyoncé with blonde hair, bleached eyebrows and the lightest skin we’ve ever seen on her.
"Colorism is unfortunately still an issue today. Dark skin is considered less than light skin in the in the minds of many in our community and in the media," Bill Duke and D. Channsin Berry, co-directors of the documentary "Dark Girls," recently told The Grio.
A 2003 study also found that 90 percent of the women entering Arizona clinics for mercury poisoning were Chicanas who had been using skin-lightening creams. A Harvard medical school professor notes: "These women had tried so desperately to whiten their skin color that they had poisoned their bodies by applying mercury-based ‘beauty creams’."
