Ava DuVernay Rumored to Direct Marvel’s ‘Black Panther’

*Update, 6/22/2015: Post and title have been updated to reflect the refutation of MCU Exchange’s original report. H/t CinemaBlend for the updated information.

A month after the news was first reported that the "Selma" director might direct an upcoming Marvel superhero film, MCU Exchange proclaimed that Ava DuVernay will helm the highly-anticipated adaptation of Marvel’s "Black Panther."

Although sources say that the film is still at least three years away from release, DuVernay was apparently hired early on so that she will be involved in 2016’s "Captain America: Civil War," which will be the first film to feature both Black Panther and his fictional African homeland of Wakanda.

This report of DuVernay’s hire, which has yet to be publically announced by Marvel, comes roughly eight months after the announcement of Chadwick Boseman’s starring role as Black Panther.
