Two films released through Array, "Selma" director Ava DuVernay‘s independent distribution network, are now available for streaming on Netflix.

Array aims to highlight and promote provocative movies made by women and people of color. Per this mission, the two feature films come from a Japanese man and a South African woman, respectively, and both deal with disenfranchised people in very different circumstances.

"Out of My Hand," which we profiled with an exclusive clip last year, focuses on a Liberian immigrant to New York City who has to confront the life he left behind when he meets a former child soldier. Directed by Takeshi Fukunaga, the film has been honored by a number of festivals around the world, and it was an official selection for the 2015 Berlin International Film Festival.

"Ayanda" is a coming-of-age story about a young woman in Johannesburg, South Africa and her quest to save her father’s auto repair shop. The film, from writer and director Sara Belcher, premiered at the 2015 Los Angeles Film Festival, where it won a Special Jury Prize.

You can stream both films on Netflix now.
