Allen West Warns Deficit Will Grow if Liberal Women Get in the Way

The conservative black lawmaker uses Hollywood to help make his case that we need stronger men.

Tea Partier Allen West cited the movies "300" and "The Last Samurai" while instructing a conservative women’s group on their role in society, which he said is to raise strong men. In his speech, addressing a "Women Impacting the Nation" (W.I.N.) meeting in Boca Raton, the politician used the portrayal of the ancient society of Sparta in the film "300" as an example, heralding Spartan women for their role in rearing sons for a strong army:

"We need you to come in and lock shields, and strengthen up the men who are going to fight for you. To let these other women know on the other side — these planned Parenthood women, the Code Pink women, and all of these women that have been neutering American men and bringing us to the point of this incredible weakness — to let them know that we are not going to have our men become subservient."

West then warned that if women fail to raise strong men to go up on Capitol Hill, the national debt and deficits would continue to grow. Earlier this year, West became the first Republican to join the Congressional Black Caucus since 1996, as well as the first black Republican to represent Florida in Congress since Reconstruction.

During the speech, West also praised the Japanese women who raised the 300 Samurai warriors who stood "on the principles of the old way…against that technology that was brought before them" and led the climactic charge, as seen in the Tom Cruise movie "The Last Samurai."

Ironically, West is in questionable company when it comes to praising the Spartans. Think Progress pointed out that Adolph Hitler was also inspired by the militant ancient Greek society, and admired their practice of eugenics. Furthermore, West’s understanding of the Satsuma Rebellion is a bit off, since the 400 Samurai at the battle actually used Western methods and weaponry in their fight, details not portrayed in the 2003 Hollywood depiction.

West previously incited controversy with his appointment of radio talk show host Joyce Kaufman as his Chief of Staff, who advocated the hanging of undocumented immigrants, in addition to other racist comments. West eventually replaced Kaufman, but not without blaming the liberal media for their "issues with racism", "sexism and misogynist behavior" in questioning his appointee.

Another gem from West’s speech? He blamed "the events that are occurring all across Africa and the Middle East" on the "joke" and weakness of Obama’s presidency. Seems like he’s in swell company on that one, too.
