For months now, people of color have been celebrating their melanin on social media using the hashtags #BlackGirlsAreMagic and #BlackGirlMagic. But last week, another group of Twitter users followed in the footsteps of the folks who gave the world #WhiteGirlsDoItBetter and co-opted the tag to create #WhiteGirlsAreMagic. The result was a lot of posts like these:

But the Internet was not having it, and users from all corners snatched the hashtag to point out what they view as hypocrisy and a pattern of appropriation. These 10 tweets say it all:
