By Sameer Rao Mar 23, 2016

Blackout for Human Rights, the collective of artists and activists that organized last month’s #JUSTICEFORFLINT benefit concert, just released a new mini documentary about the ongoing humanitarian disaster in Flint, Michigan

Directed by Blackout member Damon Jamal, "The Truth About Flint" combines interviews from residents and various artists to paint a picture of how officials gave the city’s predominantly Black residents lead-tainted water. Musiq Soulchild, Jasiri X and Jesse Williams are among the artists featured in the documentary.

#JUSTICEFORFLINT was organized by Blackout founder Ryan Coogler (director of "Fruitvale Station" and "Creed") and founding member Ava DuVernay ("Selma") to raise awareness and funds for local residents. To date, more than $160,000 has been donated.
