Flávio is a psychiatrist at the University of California, San Francisco. He earned both an MD and a BA in Community Health from Brown University in Providence, RI. His political work centers around workplace justice issues and healthcare access. He has been very active in the health care reform movement in the Municipal, State, and Federal levels. He currently serves as a delegate for the Committee of Interns and Residents - SEIU at San Francisco General Hospital and is a member of the Communist Party USA.
