The remains of singer Jenni Rivera and six others were recovered in Northern Mexico overnight and taken to a Mexican forensics facility, CBS reported authorities said Tuesday.
The National Transportation Safety Board, which is assisting Mexican authorities with the investigation, confirmed Monday that Rivera died in the crash near Iturbide, Nuevo Leon.
The singer’s brother Lupillo Rivera arrived in Mexico Tuesday morning for formal identification of the remains of his sister, Televisa Noticias reports.
It is expected that in the course of the next few hours officials will proceed with rigorous DNA samples to formalize the corresponding legal proceedings and move the remains of the Diva of Banda to the state of California, where funeral plans will be made.
The singer’s lawyer, publicist and the plane’s flight crew also perished, CBS News reports.
