Rihanna recently became the most popular female star on Facbeook, according to social media stats service Famecount.com.

The pop star sensation currently has 40,948,409 fans. Only Eminem, who has 43.6 million Facebook fans, tops her. However, averaging close to 700,000 new fans each week, it’s a matter of weeks before Rihanna surpasses Eminem.

In February, Rihanna became the fourth artist in history to achieve one billion YouTube views and is now the third most viewed star on the network.

With all these numbers combined, Rihanna is now the third biggest social media star in the world, just behind Lady Gaga and Justin Bieber.

On a related note, Shakira is the fifth most popular person on Facebook. Latino Facebook users grew 167 percent compared to 21 percent among non-Hispanics from April 2010 to April 2011.

A report released last year also found young black and Latino internet users are more than twice as likely to use Twitter as are white internet users.
