If you’ve ever had trouble forgetting memories that are now painful to recall, spoken word artist Beau Sia’s “Memory Sucks” will definitely speak to you. Angry Asian Man noted the poet’s new video, which had the help of director Eyad Zahra and piano accompaniment by Dawen.

The Oklahoma city Native who is now in New York usually performs powerful pieces that deal with cultural identity, and in particular, Asian-American stereotypes. But “Memory Sucks” is haunting in its own way. Sia repeats imagery of photos and burning of various objects to express the difficulties in resolving past relationships.
