Today marks the 43rd anniversary of Martin Luther King, Jr.’s assassination, and thousands of public sector workers are rallying to honor his legacy. It’s all part of the We Are One massive day of action, which invokes King’s ultimately deadly trip to Memphis in support of sanitation workers’s rights to organize a union in 1968. The message rings loud and clear as public sector workers around the country, many of whom are black, have come under attack from deep-pocketed Republican lawmakers. Rallies are being held in cities and towns across the country, and abroad. Visit local.we-r-1.org to find a rally near you.
