Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer’s going all-in on making her name synonymous with SB 1070. This weekend, she shot back at President Obama’s opposition to the law with a new campaign ad. The ad’s a pretty bleak affair. It first rattles off a series of horrific-sounding stats that equate immigration and drug trafficking. Then it splices in a joke Obama made at the White House correspondents dinner — an annual event in which the president roasts the press — and presents it as part of a regular old policy speech. The resulting image is of a glib president ignoring the border, as bloodthirsty thugs come streaming across it.
